58 Corvette Roadster – Part 3
58 Corvette Roadster – Part 3.
This is already part 3 of the 58 Corvette Roadster. Maybe the next part will be the final part.
After finishing the chassis, it was time to place the wheels. They look very nice with the white wall tires. The front wheels can steer and all the wheels are turning. This sometimes can be a problem. It also depends on the whole wheel construction.
Further, the build is going okay. So far, I only found one mistake. Maybe the order of the building steps, I would do some things a little bit differently. I think it is also how you think during the build. How far are you looking ahead, and how good you can imagine the next result.
Interior.
This part is more about the interior. Depending on what color the outside will be, that will dictate a little bit, what color the interior will be.
On the box art, you can see that the model is blue. It is a metallic blue color. Not a standard color but a color that was mixed. A big problem, in my opinion, is that you always make too little. You are always short. So that means, you need to mix some again. With a very big chance that you will be a little bit of. Also, the interior is blue.
Because I did not want to mix the color myself, I started to look for different color combinations. There are so many pictures on the internet of this model, I had enough choices. After going through many of them, I went with the red interior. What color for the outside? That will be a little surprise and you will see it in the next part.
To choose the best combination of red, I bought several shades of red. And tried a little bit of each color on some leftover plastic. I used a combination of Glossy and Silk Matt and Matt.
At first, I was not really looking forward to painting the interior. I thought it would be a lot of work. Between every layer/color, you had to wait until it would dry. I must admit, that during this I slowly started to get into it again. Still, it is a lot of work, but slowly you can see the result of it. I also can see that I am still a little bit rusty because of some small parts I could do better. Anyway, I am happy with the result so far.
It was my first small-scale (1:25) model after 30-35 years, so I have no complaints.
Closing.
As I mentioned before, slowly I am starting to get into it again. Slowly starting to like it. I still think that maybe I would like to build in a different scale. Like 1:16. But for now, I will just enjoy it.
In the pictures, the color red looks almost pink, but in reality, it looks better. The colors I used were Fiery Red Gloss, Carmine Red Matt, and a little bit of Italian Red Gloss.
Now slowly on, it starts to look complete. Put the interior on the chassis, place the body over it, install the hood and trunk, and some chrome details and it should be done.
