Volvo FH16 XL750 – Intro
Volvo FH 16 XL750 – Intro
The next project is on the table. It is the Volvo FH 16 XL750 (Globetrotter) from Tamiya. This is a remote-controlled truck, in the scale 1:14. When it is built, it will be 465mm long and almost 30cm high.
The number of parts is not mentioned anywhere and also on the internet I was not able to find it. But when opening the box, I was overwhelmed by the number of parts that I saw. There even were two boxes inside this box. I guess that maybe there are around 500-600 parts in it. Plastic and metal. I also saw some PE parts and of course rubber tires.
On the box, they saw the truck in a blue color. But of course, you can paint it in any color you like. I one time saw a very nice metallic green color from this brand and I am thinking of painting this model in that color.
I will build this first as standard. Then later, maybe I will get a trailer for it, to make it complete. It is even possible to install lights and sounds. But this is something for later. When going through the building manual, I was already impressed by how it is built, and for sure, it will take time to build it. This is my first RC truck and everything is new to me. But I am not in a hurry.
Normally, the model that I am building, I will place the box on the table. So I have all the parts at reach and it is easier to look for the parts. But this box is so big, that if I would place it on the table, I hardly have any space left to build the model. I so need to find another solution for that.
Trucks always had something special to me. At a young age, I always wanted to be a truck driver. But because of my heart condition, I already knew that this would not be possible for me. Instead, I did a lot of essays about trucks and also had build many truck scale models. This truck is the next best thing, to me.
