Rolls Royce Phantom II – Part 1
Rolls Royce Phantom II – Part 1
This model is the Rolls Royce Phantom II Continental (1934) from Revell. The kit is in the scale 1:16. It will be 34,5cm long. The Skill Level is 5. What I could find back about this kit is, that this one was released in 2011. It is an older model, so it is unknown how many parts it has.
A “New” Project
So, there is a “New” project on my table. Well, “New”?
Not really. I bought this kit maybe at the beginning of 2014. I am not sure. That was already 9 years ago. In that year, I had a lot to do. A lot of appointments and training, still to recover from my second heart operation. And all the complications at that time.
When I bought the kit, I had just restarted the old hobby, a little bit. I started the kit, by building the first parts of the engine. When I started the kit, I had the idea of making all the parts that could move, make them move, and not glue them. This means the doors and the engine cover. While looking into how to do that, I found out that it would not be so easy. I was just restarting the hobby, a little, so I gave up on it.
Because of all that was going on that year, the kit was moved to the side, with a partly built engine. Over all those years, the engine kept on moving from one place to another. Also, the box with all the sprues moved all around the house.
Now that I had finished the Porsche 911 from Lego, it was time for a “new” project. I decided that it would be time for this kit to get started on, again. Now with the goal to finish it.
What Are My Plans
What will I do with this model? I am not sure yet. First of all, I need to remove all the dust from the partly-built engine. Already I had a quick look at the box, and I think everything should be there.
My plan for now is, to just follow the instructions and don’t make things complicated. So, no moving doors.
For the color. When I just had the kit, my idea was to give it a different color than what was shown on the box. On the box, it shows a two-tone, black on the top and red/brown below. I think it looks a bit old fashion. My idea was to still do a two-tone, but then with black on the top and blue below. I found an image with the same car in those colors and it looked nice. Not sure about what color blue, but we will see.
In the building instructions, they used many colors. For that, I need to check what I have already, and what I maybe need to buy. My plan is to just go through the instructions and see what color goes where, and what my idea is about it. That way, I maybe will see if I will use the advised colors, or use something else. We will see.
I don’t think this kit will be finished quickly, because it looks like it has a lot of parts. But that is okay. I am not in a hurry.
Trying Something New
I also wanted to try something new. Maybe some of you already saw something going on on FaceBook. I made a short test video and placed it on Facebook. After thinking more about it, I thought to “re-activate” my YouTube channel. I placed the video that I made and placed some background music with it.
The idea is, that I will try to make more videos of the built and place them then on my Youtube channel. On this website, I will not place the videos. Only the photos. Like I did with the previously built models.
