Porsche 911 Turbo/Targa – Finisched

The Porsche 911 Turbo/Targa is finished.

It was a nice set to build. As I already mentioned in a previous post. This was a 2 in 1 set. This means, that you could build two different models. You could choose, which mode you would like to build. As usual, I wanted to do something different. I wanted to build the Targa mode, but I wanted the Turbo spoiler in the back. Normally, this is not possible. You would miss some parts.

But on a special Lego website, I had read that it should be possible. The advice was, to build the Turbo version first, and then modify it to the Targa model. And you had to buy a few parts.

A few days ago, I figured out, which parts I would need to buy. I checked in the Lego store, to see how long it would take if I ordered them direct from Lego. They told me that this could take 2 months. Their advice was, to order it from the website Bricklink. On that site a many different “shops” that are selling separate parts. There are also several Dutch shops there.

After finding a good shop, I ordered the parts. This was only a few euros. And within two days, I already had them at home.

I had build the Turbo model first. It looked nice, but I was not really a fan of the dark wheels. Luckily, in the set were also the lighter-colored wheels, for the Targa model.

I left the model like this for just a few days. At least I had something to look at.

Today I decided to modify the model, to the model I wanted.

I was very easy, but I had to be careful. I had to remove some parts and sometimes more parts came loose. After “fixing” the “loose” parts, I could follow the instructions for the Targa model.

The parts that I had ordered were really the parts that would be missing. So I had ordered the right parts. I only had to remove a few parts from the roof of the Turbo, but it went very easily.

So, I now have the model I wanted and I am happy with the result.

Now it is time to think about, what will I build next. We will wait and see.
