Fiat Abarth 695SS – Part 2
Fiat Abart 695SS – Part 2
Fiat Abarth 695SS Part 2. This part is more about the engine.
The past week I had some time again to work on the Fiat Abarth. It was mainly building the engine and placing it in the chassis. Some things were a bit tricky because some parts were really small. Also, the placing of the tubes was not always clear and I had to take several looks on different pages, to see if I was going in the right direction.
But as far as I can see, things looked okay.
In the instruction were sometimes things that I thought “Why would you do it like that?”. For example. In the transmission, to connect the drive axles, they used a rubber tube. It was unclear if you had to glue it or not. It should be connected to the outside part, that is not glued because it had to spin. My thought was, why use a rubber tube instead of a plastic part. It would do the same thing and I can imagine that you would glue this, so both axles would turn at the same time. Also, it is not really handy to connect the two halves of the transmission together, while inside there are some parts. I managed but still wondered what the thought was behind it.
Anyway, the engine is together and placed in the chassis. Luckily all the tubes matched up, so that meant that things were placed in the right place and direction.
During this build, I still was thinking of when I was building the Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Roadster. This was from the same maker and also had a lot of details. But for some reason, I liked that model more than this one. Don’t get me wrong, I also like this model. But for some reason, the Alfa Romeo felt better.
It is a personal thing and maybe others will think differently about it. That is okay.
Here are the pictures of building the engine.
