A picture of me.

Let me introduce myself.

My name is Pierre. I live in The Netherlands, I am married and have 1 son. If you would like to learn more about me, I also have a blog. I write about my life, thoughts, and health. You can find my blog here.

My hobby is Building Plastic Scale Models. Mainly cars and maybe later on some trucks. The scale of the models can vary. I also tried a few times to build airplanes, but they were never a success. Also, boats did not do it for me.

In my younger years, I think from the age of 12 up to 25, I was building a lot of these scale models. Sometimes I build 2-3 models per month.

After I started to work, got married, and got a son, things came to a halt. For around 20-25 years I did not build any models. I still had an interest in it, but I did not have the time or energy for it anymore. Too busy with life.

In 2005 I had my first open-heart operation. And I also was unemployed at that time. A friend from us had built an RC car. Out of interest, I also bought one and build it. It was nice to do but different than what I did before. I still have that model but hardly use it. The remote is eating batteries like crazy. And the main battery in the car is only good for maybe 20-25 minutes.

Then in 2012-2013, I ended up in the hospital for 3 months. (You can read more about that in my blog.) Since then, I am unemployed and not able to work anymore. So somewhere around June 2013, I started to build a scale model again. It was a Porsche 911. I am planning to maybe also write about it, or at least show some pictures.

When that one was finished, I bought a new model. A Rolls Royce. For this one, I start with building the engine but halfway I stopped again. The thing is, that I don’t have a fixed place where I could build my models. I did this on the dining table. And every time at dinner time, I moved the things off the table and put them on the side. At one point, you put it on the side and forget about it.

In the first quarter of 2021, my son moved out of the house and I was able to create my own place where I could build models again. It was already for some time that I had the itch, but not the space.

Now with my own space, I could start again and don’t need to move everything.

I am very rusty and things also changed. For my “first” model, I took one that I already had for a very long time. It was still in the box. I took that one because it was a big-scale model. Just to get into it again.

I did not take many pictures from the build, so I only can show the finished result.

It was nice to do this again and I hope that with the following models, I will take more pictures and maybe write about the building.

The scale that I am planning to use, will be mainly 1:24-1:25. But there also will be bigger models. Like 1:8, 1:10, 1:12, and 1:16. And who knows what other scale I will try.

No matter if you are just a beginner, as long as you have fun and joy in what you are doing.

I hope you will like what I am doing and maybe you also would like to give it a go. I am thinking of maybe making a separate page where I will try to tell about the things that I am using for my builds and what I think of them.

If you have any remarks, you can leave them in the comment box. And for questions, you can fill in the contact form and I will try to answer you as soon as possible.

Since the beginning of June, I have also “re-activated” my Youtube channel. The plan is to film the builds and place them on Youtube. On this site, I only will place the photos of the builds, because the videos will take up a lot of space.
